About the JRT |
The Junior Round Table (JRT) is an informal network of young professionals with
various backgrounds and occupations. Members come from all over the world, are
active in economic or business life, and have at least five to ten years of work
experience. The JRT sets for itself the goal of inspiring its members through
the exchange of ideas, beliefs, and experiences between its members. Its
purposes include:
- improving the understanding and collaboration between individuals
of various backgrounds and nationalities;
- broadening the perspective on economic and social
issues in small and large businesses;
- asserting the need for effective business principles
and evaluating their practical application; and
- encouraging the members, both as individuals and
working as a team, to take initiatives going beyond their day to day
employment.

The JRT network currently consists of over 120 people in
twenty-five countries.
Activities
Annual Meetings: Members meet annually in July during the
"Caux Conference for Business and Industry" (CCBI) in Switzerland and
remain in regular contact with each other throughout the year. The Junior Round
Table has held six annual meetings so far (1994 through 1999).
The discussions of previous meetings
encompassed a number of different issues, such as our own experiences in the
companies that we work for and what we can do to improve the organization. Other
topics included quality systems, the information society, the relationship
between government and business, and ethics in business, to name a few. The
added value of these discussions partly came from the variety of input - up to
ten different nationalities were represented at each meeting. In our program,
attention is also paid to social activities in order to promote team-building
and the exchange of personal experiences. In 1997, our forum was devoted to
publishing the "Assessment tool to Determine the Ethical Behavior of
Organizations". In 1998 and 1999, different subjects were discussed like
improving the assessment tool, setting up a JRT web site, and the topic of
balance between work and private life.
Interim Meetings: In addition to the meetings at Caux,
various Interim Meetings have been organized. 1996 saw the first Interim Meeting
which was held in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The 1997 Interim Meeting took
place in London, UK and the 1998 Interim Meeting in Milano, Italy. In 1999, the
Interim Meeting was held in Krakow, Poland; in April 2000, the meeting was held
in Washington, DC; and in March 2001 the meeting was held in Porec, Croatia. The main purpose of the Interim
Meetings is to build the JRT network and to prepare the JRT's program for that year's CCBI conference.
Funding The JRT is a
not-for-profit organization. Costs for activities are covered by personal and
corporate contributions. |
