Invitation to Caux Conference on Business and Industry

Caux Conference on Business and Industry
Junior Round Table Forum
Partnerships:  Breaking Down Boundaries

Caux, Switzerland
July 25-30, 2000

Why partnerships? In a post-modern society driven by individual views of justice, morality, and success, partnerships create opportunities to see beyond self-interest and into the hearts and minds of those around us. Partnerships operate on many levels:  personal, communities, and across borders.  Understanding how to make partnerships work with integrity, fairness, and a shared vision will form the basis for this summer’s Caux conference.

Program: The conference will span six days during which time participants will have an opportunity to engage each other in discussions regarding the nature of the various partnerships in which they are a part.  Invited speakers will provide important insights into the topic and prompt participants to reflect deeply on their own role in creating and maintaining partnerships. The sessions will span partnerships at three levels within the business context: personal (colleagues), communities (corporations), and national/international (multinationals). We plan to attract between 15 and 25 participants. While the exchange of ideas and experiences is essential, the discussion will aim at generating practical suggestions for participants to take home with them. Participants are typically business professionals in their late twenties and thirties with between five and ten years work experience.

Location and timing: The meeting will take place during the annual Caux Conference on Business and Industry, held in Caux, Switzerland between July 25-30. The conference takes place at Mountain House, an international conference center situated high above Montreaux, Switzerland, overlooking beautiful Lake Geneva.  The conference center is owned and operated by the Swiss Foundation of Moral Re-Armament.
